Frequently Asked Questions
Product and Materials
-
EcoLSD Flow Ropes are handcrafted from sustainably sourced hemp. Hemp is durable, renewable, and offers natural tactile feedback that supports timing, coordination, and embodiment.
-
Hemp offers firmer feedback, better grip, and a grounded feel compared to slick synthetics. It doesn’t stretch, it softens with use, and it aligns with our focus on natural materials and sustainable design.
-
Hemp doesn’t stretch like nylon or polyester. It may soften and relax slightly with use, improving responsiveness without losing structure.
Sizing and Fit
-
Stand on the center of the rope with one foot. Pull both ends upward—ideal length lands between your belly button and sternum.
If unsure, we’ll recommend a length based on height and practice style. -
Standard length is 8 ft. Custom options include 7 ft, 7.5 ft, 8.5 ft, and 9 ft, plus an “Email for custom length” option for anything not listed.
-
Rough starting points:
Under 5'4" → 7–7.5 ft
5'4"–6’ → 8 ft (standard)
6’+ → 8.5–9 ft
Personal preference and flow style matter—strength, wraps, and tempo can shift ideal length.Ropes can also be knotted to shorten length.
Customization
-
Yes — customization applies to length only. Materials and diameters are not customizable.

Break-In and Care
-
Yes. New hemp may feel firmer or more textured at first. It softens with regular practice and becomes more responsive over time. See the “Break-In Period” section of the Care Guide for more details.

-
New hemp rope may develop a slightly “fuzzy” or matte appearance during early use. This is normal and comes from loose outer fibers shedding as the rope settles, compresses, and aligns through movement.
With regular practice, these excess fibers naturally work their way out, leaving behind a smoother, more unified surface. The rope will soften, become more flexible, and often darken slightly in color as it breaks in.
Light brushing after use, once the rope is dry, can help remove loose fibers during this early phase. “Fuzziness” is not damage — it’s part of the rope becoming more refined through use.
